Pinotage is a relative newcomer to Radford Dale – their first release of this undervalued grape, Frankenstein, came in 2011, yet the varietal has become an important part of what they do. Quite simply, they’re looking for purity of fruit and a freshness in their expressions.
Deep purple and with ruby rim. Ripe strawberries and plums with interestingly perfumed rosewater aromas indicate varietal expression. Wild berry compote and dark forest fruits delight on the medium palate, before grippy tannins bring the wine to a clean, fresh finish.
“A note on sustainability: in line with Radford Dale’s increasing focus on sustainable business practices, all the Vinum wines are bottled in eco-friendly, lightweight glass (396 gm) with recyclable screw caps.”
“Our goal is to make the best possible wines, without all the hype and swagger. We don’t do things for commercial reasons or “just because”. We don’t do things because that’s how they’ve always been done. We do whatever is needed to make a wine that speaks for itself and especially where it’s from.”
