Sijnn Low Profile 2021

R322.00

“Low Profile” refers to the 200+ profile holes that were dug to determine the best sites to plant Sijnn’s vines, as well as their modest approach to all that they do. 2020 is a blend of most red varieties planted. A selection of barrels that are more forthcoming and easier drinking.

A blend of Syrah 56%, Touriga Nacional 21%, Tempranillo 8%, Tinta Amarella 7%, Mourvedre 4%, Malbec 4% with an attractive, medium to deep red ruby colour. Blue, red and wild berries, with a slight hint of sour cherry, intertwined with lovely hints of liquorice and chocolate. Crushed herbs, rosemary and lavender also come into play the longer the wine is open. Juicy, energetic, yet balanced wine, with all the fine flavours promised on the nose and a lovely refreshing palate which lingers long after that first sip. Long, dry and easy tannins on the finish. Best between 2019 and 2026. Perfect to enjoy with a typical South African braai.

Description

Sijnn is a true unicorn within the Cape Winelands. Located in Malgas, it was the first growth appellation in the entire region. 15km from the sea, the maritime climate is warm, but not too hot, moderated by southerly winds off the ocean late morning just about every day, especially in summer. Due to the low vigour and low yields from the poor soils and dry climate, all the vines are grown as bush vines, in a natural way adapting to their environment with gentle help from the human hand.

At Sijnn, everything they do revolves around their unique location and terroir. They believe in natural farming and natural winemaking, and focus their skills on blending Mediterranean-style varieties that are best suited to Malgas’s specific climate.
