R540.00
A wine with startling evolution, at first with grape stems and herbaceous fynbos that expand to deep plum fruit, Christmas cake and varied spices of clove and white pepper. The palate is voluptuous and juicy with tension in the tannins to hold the flavour in to the finish.

Falkirk, Scotland, the ancestral home of the Newton family, translates to “speckled church,” named for the stone structure that has graced the area since the 6th century. This heritage is reflected in the family’s vineyard, spanning 1.5 hectares, where unique Rhône varieties thrive among the rich deposits of stone and rock. The vineyard features bushvines of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, planted to explore the distinct flavors these grapes can achieve in the granite-derived soil.
Nestled on a plateau at 220 meters above sea level in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, the vineyard benefits from the porphyritic granite soils that characterize this region. Located just 4 to 8 kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean, the cool, temperate climate is influenced by nearby mountain ranges that channel ocean breezes into the valley during summer months. These winds create a gentle blanket of sea mists and overcast skies, helping to moderate temperatures. The area receives an average annual rainfall of 910mm, with about half occurring during the winter months from May to August, further enriching the vineyard’s unique terroir.
