Based in the Premier Cru classified villages of Ludes, on the north slopes of the Montagne de Reims, the Monmarthe family has been growing grapes since 1737. In 1931, they took the decision to stop selling to bigger brands and produce their own set of Champagne.
At the helm today, are Jean-Guy Monmarthe and his son Gauthier, tending to 15 hectares of vines within Ludes. They employ sustainable farming, via an HEV (High Environmental Value) certification since 2014, and are a member of ‘The Vigneron Independent’.
The house cuvee of ‘Secret de Famille’ represents around 90% of production, whilst they also produce highly limited wines under their terroir selection, from single vineyards and in single vintages.
