The Laherte Freres Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature NV hails from a plot selection of old vine Chardonnay on the southern slopes of Epernay, with 50% of the wine from the base vintage and 50% of the reserve.
Sustainably farmed on soft clay and chalk. The base wine sees alcoholic fermentation and maturation in oak foudre and barrel, with a little lees stirring for texture, and just partial malolactic fermentation for an overriding sense of freshness. Secondary fermentation occurs in the bottle and on the fine lees for a minimum of 2 years.
This Champagne sees no addition of dosage (sugar), receiving the designation of Brut Nature. The result is a Blanc de Blancs of real depth and trademark Laherte tension.
A perfect balance, with malolactic fermentation playing a key role in enhancing the harmony of its acidity. It offers a delightful blend of citrus and apple flavors, along with subtle hints of dried mango and preserved ginger, the true character of the wine lies in its expression of terroir. Expect to discover aromas of citrus zest, crushed stones, mint, dried florals, and a touch of white pepper.

Based in Chavot-Courcourt, just south of Epernay, the wines of Laherte Frères encompass so many of the dimensions that make Champagne such a dynamic region today. At the helm is Aurélien Laherte, easily one of the most progressive young growers of his generation.
Sustainable and regenerative farming in various guises and low-intervention winemaking are some of their signatures. Each wine has a sense of purpose. Some are explorations of a single grape, others exalt the qualities of small parcels and some wines showcase the principles of blending.
There’s a stylistic thread running through the range. Vinous richness, vitality and transparency, all enhanced by aging in neutral oak, low dosage and smart use of partial malolactic fermentation and bâtonnage.
