Satlare was started by award-winning wine maker Carla Pauw in 2007.
The name means ‘to dance’ in Latin, and refers back to the first harvest, where Carla’s friends helped her to press the grapes in basket presses, which soon turned into a joyous evening of dancing. The name appropriately describes a few of the finest qualities of her wines and “embodies movement, grace and simplicity.” Carla sources her grapes from 5 special vineyards in the Cape. The wines are made in a small cellar in the middle of Stellenbosch on the banks of the Eerste River.
