In 1946, a man created a home by planting a vineyard. That man is now the great-grandfather of the winemaker today. They craft wines with a sense of belonging, creating moments of purity and concentration. Danie Steytler Jnr has been making waves with his pure and classic wines, yet following in the footsteps of his dad, who was a leader in the creation of Pinotage blends in South Africa.

Having worked in Italy, Greece, Germany, St Émilion, New Zealand, Napa Valley and Sweden, Danie Jnr returned to Kaapzicht to take the reigns from his legendary father. Clearly heralding great things to come, the Steytler Pinotage 2006 wins Decanter’s best red wine in the world, cementing Kaapzicht’s position as one of the top Pinotage producers in South Africa.
