Alex Dale was raised in France, did his first harvest in Burgundy at the age of 15 and opened the first specialist wine bar in the heart of Burgundy, against everyone’s recommendation. It was of course a huge success. In 1994 Alex moved to Stellenbosch to embrace the “new Rainbow nation” and started Radford Dale wines. It’s been 25 years since Alex starting importing his much loved wines into South Africa, so it’s safe to say, he knows what he’s talking about.

The ethos: “We travel the world, cultivating life-long friendships with inspirational, artisanal producers to bring you a treasure trove of global fine wine.”  Wines are never chosen off a list or by what the press recommends. It’s about tasting, walking the vineyards, knowing the people and building relationship. The wines are for us drinkers of fine wine, not for the collectors of labels and status. This resonates well with our philosophy at Wine Menu.

Despite the crazy price increases in Burgundy of the past years, there are still great value wines to be found, if you know where to look.
