Beaumont Hope Marguerite Chenin Blanc has firmly established its position as one of South Africa’s consistently top performing Chenin Blancs over more than 2 decades.
Named after Hope Marguerite Beaumont, a woman with character, elegance and a love for wine. This Chenin Blanc is produced to reflect the pure character of the grape and the individual philosophy of Beaumont Family wines. The first vintage was produced in 1997 and at that time there were only two other Chenin Blancs in South Africa produced in this style. Only fruit selected from the two oldest Chenin Blanc vineyards, planted in ‘74 and ‘78, are used for this wine. Both these vineyards are registered as single vineyards and the wine is certified as a Heritage Vineyard wine.
Beaumont is a family owned and managed farm situated in the heart of the town Botrivier in the Overberg. It’s home to the region’s oldest wine cellar, and was originally established in the 1700’s as a supply farm for the Dutch East India Co. It has been in the hands of the Beaumont family since 1974, with the first wine, Pinotage, bottled under the Beaumont name in 1994. Sebastian and Nici Beaumont is the current custodians of this historic farm and under their guidance the wines and everything else on the farm is growing from strength to strength.
