Stephanie wrote the following after a recent tasting of Khakibos:
“The only way to move forward is to look backwards. Last week we glanced back to our very first bottling of 2018 Khakibos (the first vintage was 100% Verdelho) and we journeyed through each blend and the influence of the next five vintages (and end of the drought) through to our soon-to-be-released 2023 Khakibos. This is truly a wine we take so much pride in making from @terblanche.etienne carefully thought through field blend-like selections to @steph.wiid barrel selections in the winery.”
This made us double excited about our tasting with Stephanie.
This is a first ever tasting for Johannesburg, with Stephanie, to taste not only the new releases of the Thistle and Weed range, but also a vertical tasting of 6 vintages of Khakibos, from the maiden 2018 to the new 2023 soon to be released.
They are, of course, also well-known for Chenin Blanc from various old vineyards around the Cape. Springdoring, Brandnetel and Duwweltjie, all consistently rewarded internationally for their brilliant expressions of site. Knapsekerel is Cabernet Franc and Nastergal is the innovative red blend including Alicante Bouschet for that extra inky colour. A new addition to the range is Port Jackson, you guessed it, a port style wine.
This will be presented in a sit down format and therefore reserving your seat in advance is essential.
