Silverthorn Wines is an outstanding Cap Classique producer in Robertson on the banks of the Breede River. It started with a father’s dream and a determined family who against all odds turned this dream into a reality. John Loubser is the winemaker and has ample knowledge and experience in making quality Cap Classiques. He studied viticulture and Oenology at Elsenberg and went on to be the assistant winemaker at Graham Beck. His career lead him to become the cellar master at Steenberg Vineyards where he perfected his skills and also developed his ideas for Silverthorn. The focus is solely on Cap Classique and they have established themselves as a premium producer of this sparkly goodness. The site and soil lend themselves to creating exceptional Cap Classique’s because the vines lie in ancient sea beds that are rich with lime and shale. This is a place full of passion and focus, and you can most certainly taste it while enjoying a glass.
