100% Chenin Blanc from a Piketberg vineyard planted in 1961- Skin Macerated
Planted in 1961, dry land bush vines, farmed organically. It is a 4-ha block of Chenin planted on the sandstone soils of the Piketberg foothills on the way to Redelinghuys. It’s our oldest block of Chenin vines on soils that lie adjacent to a river, this provides enough water throughout the growing season.
The intention of the wine is to over deliver, and so it does.
A more expressive vintage, still with a lemon core, lovely textured mouthfeel and gentle acidity on finish.

Description
The wines of TESTALONGA defy convention in a lot of ways. Craig has never been accused of being “a follower” and these wines represent the avant-garde of South African wine. The fruit is farmed by Craig and his team using organic and biodynamic methods. Craig is proud of making natural wines, thus early picking, a lack of additions (minute amounts of SO2 are infrequently used) with no fining or filtration are all hallmarks of his approach. They have bought a farm in the Piketberg area in northern Swartland, and have started to plant vines as of 2018.
