We had long desired Grenache on the Helderberg farm, and after much deliberation we finally got our wish from the owners. It’s a young, single vineyard, and this is just our third release from it, and first dressed up as Vinum. We’re encouraged by the progress (as are our nearby peers), and it looks like coastal Stellenbosch will offer up a growing category of Grenache over the next 5-10 years.
Deep crimson in colour with a ruby rim. Subtle blueberry and strawberry notes over graphite on the nose. Heartily fruited palate is reined in by firm, but polished tannins before a lingering pomegranate finish.
VARIETAL: Grenache
APPELLATION: Stellenbosch
ANALYSIS : Alcohol 13.5%vol | Total Acidity 4.9 g/l | pH 3.48 | Residual Sugar 2.1g/l

Radford Dale’s Vinum began with two of the Cape’s most celebrated grapes, Chenin and Pinotage. Building on this legacy the range has now been expanded to incorporate four other wines, a Chardonnay, Gamay, Grenache noir and a Pinot Noir.
Aiming to be equally at home on bistro tables and wine shop shelves, the focus for Vinum is also to offer a major value proposition, as many of the details are similar to that of the premium Terroir range from Radford Dale. Similar or identical vineyard sites as well as viticultural practices and winemaking techniques are being employed. The delivery however is less cerebral and more about drinking pleasure.
“All the wines in the new Radford Dale Vinum range; authentic and expressive of both origin and variety as well as great value.” Julia Harding MW.
