All grapes come from our farm, Winshaw Vineyards in Stellenbosch. All the vineyards were trellised. All grapes are harvested by hand in individual bins and then transported to the cellar. The grapes were naturally fermented in open fermenters before pressing and transferring to barrels. The wine spent a total of 12 months in French oak barrels. The barrels comprised of 2nd and 3rd fill barrels.
This Malbec has depth and structure. There are fine tannins that round the wine off. On the nose it exhibits rich, dark fruit intensity. The palate has a dry finish.

You would be hard-pressed to pack more adventure into one life! After three decades of escapes across three continents, Dr William Charles Winshaw took to winemaking in the picturesque Stellenbosch valley, producing his first wine in 1904. After several ups and downs, the doctor’s pioneering spirit and tenacity saw the formation of the Stellenbosch Farmers’ Winery. He lived steadfastly by his motto Ne Cede Malis (do not give in to adversity).
Generations later the reimagined Winshaw Vineyards brought to you by brothers JP and Pierre Winshaw have released this single varietal Malbec. Originally earmarked as blending component in the other two Winshaw wines, 2019 saw the first single bottling of this grape. A deliciously rich, yet smooth wine for lovers of this variety better associated with Argentina and as blending component in Bordeaux reds.
