More info:
In 2003, at the age of 78, May de Lencquesaing, then owner of the famous Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande from Pauillac, Bordeaux, purchased the estate. She set about planting vines to replace the existing fruit trees, realising her vision of establishing a thriving winery that best utilises the soils and microclimates of the valley and supports local economic development and the community. And thus Glenelly Estate was reborn.
The grandson of Madame May is Nicolas Bureau who recently moved to South Africa and is now in charge of all operations, working closely with his grandmother to further develop Glenelly Estate.
We are honoured to have him with us on this special occasion to carry the Glenelly message.
Luke O’Cuinneagain has been winemaker at Glenelly since 2007 and the man responsible for every vintage of Lady May we shall be tasting. He will give us all the information of each of the 6 vintages as we explore the amazing age ability of the estate’s flagship wine.
